The Open Source Debate – My Two Cents

OK, there’s this big firefight between regular software, paid, usually expensive software that we know today, and really cheap, or free, open-source software. Personally, I am a big fan of open-source. Open-source gives developers like me opportunities to fine-tune software to my liking. Let’s have an example. Linux is a free, open-source operating system that allows people like me who understand computer code to fine-tune it to our liking. If I have a linux distobution like Ubuntu (free, http://www.ubuntu.com), and it has a feature I don’t really like or that it doesn’t have, I can add it in using the open-source capabilities within Ubuntu. Safari – Was it REALLY A stealth update?

Well, looking back, if you run Windows, you probably saw that Safari was going to be installed in your next iTunes or QuickTime update. No, you say? You didn’t see it in the updater page? Come on, get your FREAKING EYES CHECKED! It was not a stealth update by ANY means, the user (meaning yourself) had the OPTION (meaning that little checkmark next to the word “Safari” in the updater) to install it or not. People, you just don’t get it. You use Windows for freak’s sake. Don’t expect anything worse from Microsoft? They’ve done a LOT worse than what Apple has done here. Making my point, again, there was a little option mark if you wanted to install Safari. Now, don’t come complaining to me or any of the other bloggers out there (unless, of course, they are trashing Apple for this move) when your little Windows PC starts to say, ”Safari has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvinience.” When you download this software, you have to understand that it’s from APPLE, thier platform is called MAC OS X. Can’t you people wait for some bug fixes or something? Wow.

iTablet?

I was parusing around some sites today and they are hinting towards something like an iTablet. Whatever it is, it sounds good. Being the Apple fanboy I am, however, I think every thing sounds good when it starts with a lowercase I. Well, we’ll see, I’m also waiting for the iPhone SDK so I can make s’more software for you guys. What? What’s that? You didn’t know I made software? I make it with my friend Mateusz and you can find some of our latest creations on the Sen Software site.
